from the top down

five story elevator shaft mural - a 360 degree experience from top to bottom.

the project

“From the Top Down” came to life cascading down 5 stories of elevator shaft wall. With glass doors and full height glass partitions at each level of a Rosslyn, VA townhome, this elevator shaft becomes a main feature element. Composition was key in creating a continuous, abstract mural of this height, while simultaneously producing a meaningful and unique experience at each level as you circulate through the adjacent, spiraling staircase. In stark contrast to the monochromatic palette of the edgy, minimalist interior design, this highly saturated piece compliments the bold themes prevalent in the overall residential design experience.

the existing conditions

The color scheme and fluid nature of this piece was derived from the existing mural by Miami artist, Amelia ST, “From the Ground Up”, a rags to riches story

the seamless connection

With the existing mural occupying one side of the shaft, the goal was to create a separate identity for this new work while seamlessly stitching together the existing.
